Preventing Electrical Fires in Your Business

Electrical fires can be extremely detrimental to your business. Damages can occur from both the fire and the water that is used during firefighting efforts.  As a business owner, it is important to know the steps to take to prevent electrical fires in your office.

Fire Smoke and Odor Removal

The only damage to this bedroom in a Southern Delaware County home was a strong smoke odor. Fires generally do not ruin entire structures. Pictured is an air scrubber that recycles the interior air through a HEPA and activated carbon system to capture the airborne particles and the odor ones as well.

Delaware County Kitchen Fire

Fire damage in this home’s kitchen began with a combination of a stove top grease fire and a clogged filter on the exhaust hood. SERVPRO of Southern Delaware County technicians are able to wipe the soot from the affected materials with specialized SERVPRO compounds. The cabinetry would require light sanding to remove all of the soot damage.

SERVPRO Can Restore Your Valuables After a Fire

Our team responded to a call regarding a fire damage emergency. The home experienced fire damage, and their wood furniture suffered significant soot damage. Using specialized cleaning products and a 3 part process which included sponge cleaning, wet washing, and polishing we were able to restore their damaged furniture. The team at SERVPRO of Southern Delaware County has the equipment, training, and fire and soot damage experience to restore your home and belongings to pre-damage condition.

Sealing a Fire Area

The final step with most fire jobs is to apply an odor sealant to the affected area. Once the smoke and soot have been cleared, removed and cleaned, a specialized primer is applied to the affected areas to encapsulate and seal in odors.

It Doesn't Take Much to Start a Fire

No one expects a house fire, but they can easily catch anyone by surprise. When taking care of something as basic as ashes from a wood or pellet stove, it's best to ensure they're kept in a fireproof container, away from any combustible material. Unfortunately for this homeowner, this plastic bucket was not fireproof...which resulted in a sizable fire, damaging a good portion of their house.

Garage Fire

This was the aftermath of a garage fire when we arrived on the scene. There was significant smoke and soot damage. The owner couldn't believe how quickly and completely we were able to clean the soot from the walls and ceiling.
