SERVPRO of Southern Delaware County understands mold and we want to educate our community about the best ways to prevent and treat your commercial property.

Mold grows from mold spores which are too small to see unaided. Spores can survive harsh environments for many years. It can also grow almost anywhere. Mold needs to have above-freezing temperatures, protein such as animal dander, skin cells, wood, plaster, carpet, and moisture or high humidity.

Mold grows rapidly, damages property, has a bad smell, is unsightly and can cause health effects.

If you have a small amount of mold on a dish, you can clean it. You can even throw it away. However, if you have a large amount of mold, you need licensed mold remediation from an industry professional. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines a “large amount” as 10 square feet or more.

If you suspect your apartment or office building might have mold, you need to have a certified mold inspector out to examine the area. SERVPRO of Southern Delaware County cannot identify what kind of mold you have, but we are licensed in mold remediation and we can repair the damage caused by mold.

When you have a concern about mold damage in your apartment or condominium, speak with your landlord or property manager if you think he/she should hire licensed professionals. Whatever the disaster, remember that SERVPRO is Here to Help.

If you suspect mold in your property, call (484) 841-6669.
