7/1/2016 (Permalink)

Have a fun but Safe Fourth of July from your friends at SERVPRO OF SOUTHERN DELAWARE COUNTY

Fireworks can be great fun. Unfortunately, every year, people get hurt because they fool around with fireworks.

-From 2009-2013, U.S. fire departments responded to an average of 18,500 fires caused by fireworks.

-These fires included 1,300 structure fires, 300 vehicle fires and 16,900 outside and other fires. An estimated two people were killed in these fires. In 2014, U.S. hospital emergency rooms treated an estimated 10,500 people for fireworks related injuries; 51% of those injuries were to the extremities and 38% were to the head.

Make sure you’re not one of them by following these few simple rules:

1.Use fireworks outdoors only

2.Always have an adult supervise fireworks activities

3.Avoid buying fireworks packaged in brown paper

4.Be careful when lighting the fuse

5.Never relight a “dud” firework

6.Only use fireworks as intended

7.Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy

8.Use common sense.

9.Alcohol and fireworks do not mix.

10.Obey Local Laws
